Lions Extend Jason Hanson

We reported last week that the Detroit Lions would do whatever it takes to keep Jason Hanson in a Lion's uniform for 2009, including using the franchise tag on the 17-year veteran.

Well in an announcement made today by the team, the Lions stuck to their word and signed kicker Jason Hanson to a 4 year extension, contract terms were not disclosed.

With this extension, Hanson will continue to be the longest tenure player on the roster, he holds several franchise records including most points (1,747), field goals (406), extra points (529), and games played (271),

Hanson also holds several NFL records, including being the first player in NFL history to go 8-for-8 on field goal attempts of over 50-yards in one season, and the first NFL player to connect on 41 attempts over 50-yards
