As expected the Washington Redskins released veteran CB Shawn Springs in an attempt to clear up some salary cap space after signing two monster contracts at the beginning of free agency.
Springs became expendable when the Redskins re-signed CB DeAngelo Hall to a six-year, $54 million deal earlier in the day.
Springs was on the final year of his contract and had a cap number of $8.48 million, but they'll actually save $6 million with the move. His base salary was $6 million and he had $2.48 million left in bonus proration.
