The Detroit Lions have made it clear that they intend to keep Daunte Culpepper in 2009. The announced today that they have restructured Culpepper's deal, likely saving the Lions from having to pay the 11-year veteran, who came out of retirement mid-way through last season, the $2.5 Million roster bonus due later this month.
The terms of the contract were not released but team president Tom Lewand said that Culpepper is still on the last year of a two-year contract.
