Off-seaon Goal for Dummerville: Work on His Backpedal

As the Denver Broncos prepare for the 2009 season and potentially towards a new 3-4 defensive alignment as New Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Wayne Nunnely are well-versed in the 3-4. Before this is possible the coaching staff will need to begin evaluating their roster and making moves to make the transition a smooth one. One of those moves might be for DE Elvis Dumerville to move to OLB.
"I'll do whatever necessary to help the team," Dumervil said Thursday in a telephone interview. "They're going to see what they can do in free agency and the draft first. We haven't really honed in on the personnel, yet."

Former head coach Mike Shanahan spent 14 years building his roster to run a 4-3 defense so the change over might not be automatic, as the Broncos will only have so much room under the salary cap and 9 draft choices (with extra picks in the fifth and seventh rounds) to work with.
