Steelers' Harrison wins DPOY

Steelers LB James Harrison was awarded the Associated Press 2008 Defensive Player of the Year award today becoming the 5th Steeler to win the award. The Award caps off a regular season for Harrison that saw him register 101 tackles, 16 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 1 interception as a key component of the NFL's stingiest defense. For a breakdown of the voting.

  • James Harrison 22votes
  • Demarcus Ware 13 votes
  • Ed Reed 8 votes
  • Albert Haynesworth 5 votes
  • Troy Polamalu 2 votes

AP awards have been a bit of a curse this season as all this years AP winners lost in the wildcard round except for Harrison whose team did not play yet.
