Eagles DC has Skin Cancer

Philadelphia Eagles' long time defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has been diagnosed with a reccurance of skin cancer, on his spine. Johnson was diagnosed with cancer the first time in 2001 and the new tumor is in the same location on his back. Team trainer Rick Burkholder said Johnson has cancer in other areas but would not specify.

"Who knows where it tracked to from there, but his symptoms came from the spine," Burkholder told The Inquirer. "Now there are some other areas in his body [that have cancer], but I'm not going to get into where else some other stuff is. They will all be treated together. "

Johnson complained of back pain in early January which lead to the team performing an MRI after the Eagles playoff win against the Giants, a game which he coached from the press box. The MRI came back and alerted the doctors to perform further testing, which revealed that the melanoma had returned.
