The Lions claimed wide receiver Will Franklin off waiver from Kansas City Tuesday.
Franklin was a fourth-round pick (105th overall) of the Chiefs in 2008 out of Missouri. In 13 games for Kansas City last season, he had seven catches for 83 yards (11.9-yard average) with no touchdowns.
The Raiders, Rams, Colts, and Eagles all put in claims but the Lions had first dibs because of their 0-16 record.
While a knee injury kept Franklin low on KC's depth chart as a rookie, he has a rare combination of speed (4.37) and size (6'2/205). He should have a strong shot at a roster spot.
